After I successfully completed the process myself, I reflected on it and decided it actually felt a lot like doing a 14 month master&#8217;s program. So, I imagined what a program syllabus might look like for the &#8220;degree&#8221; of &#8220;getting an international teaching job&#8221; and this is what I came up with.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><i>EDU411 sec.2016<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">7-9 pm Tues-Fri (14 month class)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Instructor:<\/strong> Shawntel Allen (global gypsy, addicted adventurer, and educational box breaker)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s2\">Course Description:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"s1\">A you-can-do-it, no-better-time-than-the-present, what-have-you-got-to-lose, kick-in-the-pants roadmap designed to get you from here to there.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s2\">Pre-requisites:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"s1\">Students are encouraged to have completed at least three of the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">MATH: 072 &#8211;\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Excess Baggage Weight Exchange<\/span>\u00a0&#8211; Trading in shady ex\u2019s for Xtreme sports gear<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">EDU: 222 &#8211;\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">What Box?<\/span> &#8211; Educational theory minus ethnocentrism<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">ENG: 369 &#8211;\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Facebooking, Tweeting and Instagraming are the New Scrapbooking<\/span>\u00a0&#8211; Journaling the journey 140 characters at a time and documenting \u201cout of work activities\u201d in \u201cwork appropriate\u201d photo albums<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">PE: 123 &#8211;\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Skin Thickening<\/span>\u00a0&#8211; Techniques for deflecting the criticism and judgments of people whose idea of risk-taking is trying a different route on the drive to work\u2026once.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">BUS: 421 &#8211;\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Opting Out<\/span> &#8211; Investing in viable alternatives to the \u201cAmerican dream\u201d (AKA-spouse, 2.5 kids, dog, hybrid SUV, SEC season football tickets, and house in the suburbs)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">AVI: 747 &#8211;\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Flight Lessons<\/span>\u00a0&#8211;
