{"id":455,"date":"2011-04-25T21:48:08","date_gmt":"2011-04-25T21:48:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/blog\/?p=455"},"modified":"2012-02-26T21:48:38","modified_gmt":"2012-02-26T21:48:38","slug":"traveling-around-sichuan-china","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/blog\/traveling-around-sichuan-china\/","title":{"rendered":"Traveling Around: Sichuan, China"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Can you relate?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Choosing your dinner by looking at what other people are eating and asking them for their recommendations.<\/li>\n<li>Sitting in a lounge area of a nearly empty hostel, getting in touch with your colleagues.<\/li>\n<li>Finding signs in Chinglish and also finding time to disobey them.\u00a0 \u201cNo striding\u201d (found in a monastery) \u201cNo sitting or leaning or leaping\u201d (in the inside of a pagoda)<\/li>\n<li>Getting sick and not being able to enjoy a beautiful city and its surroundings.<\/li>\n<li>Being stampeded and overrun by flag-toting, red-hatted Chinese tour groups.\u00a0 Also, having to endure the noise pollution of a megaphone-holding tour guide.<\/li>\n<li>Taking 1376 pictures of pandas (or fill in the blank) in the same pose.<\/li>\n<li>Trying to not to talk about school-related topics on a long bus ride.<\/li>\n<li>Being in awe of the time management skills of bus passengers at a toilet break:\u00a0 Less than 5 minutes,\u00a0 off and on with military precision.<\/li>\n<li>Being able to watch the latest \u201cstraight to the bus screen\u201d movie release of the Hong Kong film industry on a long-distance bus.<\/li>\n<li>Being serenaded by a saxophonist, seemingly the only one in a town of 200, 000 people.<\/li>\n<li>Traveling with one person who likes to plan ahead and the other person who flies by the seat of their pants.<\/li>\n<li>Hostel or hotel, are we adults yet?<\/li>\n<li>Being away from your computer, off-line as it were.\u00a0 Though actually bringing your laptop and not being able to access the wireless internet.<\/li>\n<li>Being out of the concrete jungle, enjoying perfect weather and the sound of birds chirping.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Can you relate?
