{"id":420,"date":"2011-05-23T21:34:09","date_gmt":"2011-05-23T21:34:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/blog\/?p=420"},"modified":"2012-10-21T11:19:20","modified_gmt":"2012-10-21T11:19:20","slug":"to-stare-or-not-to-stare-that-is-the-question","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/blog\/to-stare-or-not-to-stare-that-is-the-question\/","title":{"rendered":"To stare or not to stare, that is the question!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Of course, if people look physically different from you and your own culture group, stare.\u00a0 It\u2019s natural, right?\u00a0 Everyone does it, no matter where you live or where you are from\u2026.I think.\u00a0 However, some culture groups have made a choice to believe that staring is not culturally acceptable and frown upon their people who stare.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.internationalschoolcommunity.com\/home.php\" target=\"_blank\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: 3px solid black; margin: 5px 9px;\" title=\"IMG_4279\" src=\"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/05\/img_4279.jpg?w=600&#038;resize=420%2C280\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"280\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, some culture groups LOVE to stare and go as far as to interact with the person they are staring at to take a picture with them.\u00a0 How strange it is to want to take a picture with a complete stranger?\u00a0 (I think I\u2019ve done it 1000s of times.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.internationalschoolcommunity.com\/home.php\" target=\"_blank\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 3px solid black;\" title=\"IMG_4367\" src=\"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/05\/img_4367.jpg?w=600&#038;resize=420%2C280\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"280\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The fun part is the more people that you are around, the easier it is to stare at them.\u00a0 How cool it would be to get to know what everyone in the group is thinking.\u00a0 Maybe that is why we stare.\u00a0 It\u2019s because we want to know more about them.\u00a0 How embarrassing though when the person you are staring at looks back at you?? Most times you just look away as fast as you can like you were never staring, but they know you were.\u00a0 People never say anything though, especially if you are staring at someone while you are traveling in a foreign country.\u00a0 That\u2019s what happened to me with this woman in Belgium.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.internationalschoolcommunity.com\/home.php\" target=\"_blank\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 3px solid black;\" title=\"IMG_0372\" src=\"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/05\/img_0372.jpg?w=600&#038;resize=420%2C280\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"280\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThere is one person you can stare at though, and it is a baby.\u00a0 They are the masters of staring.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know why, but they sure enjoy staring at me specifically, and not always with a smile on their face.\u00a0 I feel very comfortable to stare back.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.internationalschoolcommunity.com\/home.php\" target=\"_blank\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 3px solid black;\" title=\"IMG_4433\" src=\"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/05\/img_4433.jpg?w=600&#038;resize=420%2C280\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"280\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s just admit it.
