{"id":394,"date":"2011-06-13T21:24:27","date_gmt":"2011-06-13T21:24:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/blog\/?p=394"},"modified":"2012-10-22T19:52:32","modified_gmt":"2012-10-22T19:52:32","slug":"to-touch-your-produce-or-to-not-touch-your-produce-that-is-the-question","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/blog\/to-touch-your-produce-or-to-not-touch-your-produce-that-is-the-question\/","title":{"rendered":"To touch your produce or to not touch your produce: that is the question!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I don\u2019t know about you, but I prefer to touch my fruit before I buy it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/home.php\" target=\"_blank\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 3px solid black;\" title=\"IMG_9255\" src=\"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/06\/img_9255.jpg?w=600&#038;h=326&#038;fit=600%2C326&#038;resize=360%2C196\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"196\" \/><br \/>\n<\/a><strong>Xi\u2019an, China<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But touching fruit in other countries can be problematic.\u00a0 There is never anybody watching you touch your produce in the United States, Australia, etc\u2026but in certain counties touching the fruit is not even an option.<\/p>\n<p>Is this a main factor when deciding on where you would next like to teach and live?\u00a0 Most likely, not.\u00a0\u00a0 Remember though, that you probably go produce shopping at a grocery store or at the nearby fruit stand around two times a week.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/home.php\" target=\"_blank\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 3px solid black;\" title=\"IMG_5767\" src=\"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/06\/img_5767.jpg?w=600&#038;h=369&#038;fit=600%2C369&#038;resize=360%2C221\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"221\" \/><br \/>\n<\/a><strong>New Delhi, India<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Not being able to analyze my fruit and putting trust into the fruit stand owner to choose for you takes time.\u00a0 If they make one wrong pick, put it into your bag and then to get home and see that it is rotten inside, they will for sure lose a customer.\u00a0 But in all the places I have been in this world, there is always a store where you can choose the fruit and veggies yourself. I can understand why some stores don\u2019t want you to touch their goods; you pushing too hard, messing up their display, etc\u2026\u00a0 but come on!\u00a0 I just might be one of their loyalest customers for the next year or two!<\/p>\n<p>Fruit buying is always a risk, but at least when you can choose your own fruit, you can take the blame.\u00a0 But when somebody else is choosing your fruit and it is bad, that is a different story.\u00a0 Now factor in not being able to say \u201cwhich apples are the sweetest here?\u201d in the host country language.\u00a0 You learn that vocabulary pretty fast I suppose.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/home.php\" target=\"_blank\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 3px solid black;\" title=\"IMG_0228\" src=\"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/06\/img_0228.jpg?w=600&#038;h=346&#038;fit=600%2C346&#038;resize=360%2C208\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"208\" \/><br \/>\n<\/a><\/strong><strong>Vigo, Spain<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What about in the country that you live in?\u00a0 Which countries offer a \u201cNO TOUCH\u201d policy for fruit buying?\u00a0 Which ones are more liberal?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I don\u2019t know about you, but I prefer to touch my fruit before I buy it.
