{"id":371,"date":"2011-07-08T21:17:10","date_gmt":"2011-07-08T21:17:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/blog\/?p=371"},"modified":"2012-10-22T19:55:14","modified_gmt":"2012-10-22T19:55:14","slug":"survey-results-are-in-which-benefit-is-the-most-important-to-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/blog\/survey-results-are-in-which-benefit-is-the-most-important-to-you\/","title":{"rendered":"Survey results are in \u2013 Which benefit is the most important to you?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.internationalschoolcommunity.com\/view_survey.php\" target=\"_blank\">survey results<\/a> are in, and it seems as if HOUSING and SALARY are the most important benefits for the teachers that voted.\u00a0 They both received the same amount of votes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/home.php\" target=\"_blank\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 3px solid black;\" title=\"Housing Home Page\" src=\"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/07\/housing-home-page.jpg?w=600&#038;resize=354%2C300\" alt=\"\" width=\"354\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have worked at an int\u2019l school where the housing wasn\u2019t included and I have also worked at a school when the housing was included.\u00a0 It definitely made a difference on how I spent my money in those cities.\u00a0 Rent usually accounts for a sizable portion of your salary.\u00a0 When that cost is not there, then of course you will have much more money to spend on travel and just \u201clivin\u2019 it up\u201d in the city you are in.\u00a0 It is nice to not have to worry about paying your rent.\u00a0 Sometimes the housing allowance does not cover the total cost of the rent, but still in that case it is more ideal than getting nothing to put towards the rent cost.\u00a0 Other times you can find a place under the amount of your housing allowance.\u00a0 In many countries the landlords can falsify the rent receipt documents to say that it costs more so that you can pocket the remainder of the housing allowance for yourself!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/home.php\" target=\"_blank\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 3px solid black;\" title=\"images\" src=\"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/07\/images.jpg?w=600&#038;resize=218%2C231\" alt=\"\" width=\"218\" height=\"231\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Yes, salary.\u00a0 We all want a higher salary.\u00a0 At some international schools the annual salary can be upwards of 100K USD (e.g. in some schools in Switzerland), but in other schools you salary can be much, much less.\u00a0 Usually it depends on the cost of living in the city though;
