The old, 2012 program, was popular, but had a number of strict entry criteria. It offered great terms &#8211; but only for those who qualified.<\/p>\n<p>As the program proved a success, the IRS is expanding it and also doing away with a number of penalties.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>If you are living abroad and are behind on your U.S. taxes<br \/>\n== &gt;\u00a0This new program is for you.<br \/>\n<\/b><\/h3>\n<p style=\"color: #0173b2; font-size: 20px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 1;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/divider.png\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3620\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/divider.png?resize=580%2C16\" alt=\"divider\" width=\"580\" height=\"16\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #0173b2; font-size: 20px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 1;\">Most Important Changes<\/p>\n<p>1.<b> You are no longer required to have been living abroad since 2009.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>This requirement has now been eliminated. You can apply simply by filing tax returns for the last three years.<\/p>\n<p>2.<b> Less paperwork ==&gt; less risk.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The \u201crisk assessment\u201d concept and the $1,500 maximum US tax liability requirements under the Original Streamline Procedure have been eliminated.<\/p>\n<p><b>This is\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">very<\/span>\u00a0important. If you were afraid to file because you were afraid of being denied entry into the streamlined program due to being high risk &#8211; this is no longer an issue.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>3.<strong> No Penalties.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Eligible taxpayers who comply with the procedures will not be subject to<\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"margin-left: 40px; font-size: 14px;\">Failure-to-File penalties<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-left: 40px; font-size: 14px;\">Failure-to-Pay penalties<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-left: 40px; font-size: 14px;\">Accuracy-Related penalties<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-left: 40px; font-size: 14px;\">Information return penalties<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-left: 40px; font-size: 14px;\">FBAR penalties<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>unless the returns are selected for audit and IRS finds that tax noncompliance was fraudulent or that the FBAR violation was willful.<\/p>\n<p>4.<strong> Ability to transition from the OVDP.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A taxpayer eligible for treatment under the streamlined procedures who submits, or has submitted, a voluntary disclosure letter under the OVDP (or any predecessor offshore voluntary disclosure program) prior to July 1, 2014, but who does not yet have a fully executed OVDP closing agreement, may request treatment under the applicable penalty terms available under the streamlined procedures.<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/divider.png\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3620\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/divider.png?resize=580%2C16\" alt=\"divider\" width=\"580\" height=\"16\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #0173b2; font-size: 20px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 1;\">Contact Us To Get Started<\/p>\n<p>If you are behind on your U.S. tax returns or FBARs &#8211; the new program offers a terrific opportunity to come clean and start fresh without paying penalties.<\/p>\n<p>At TFX we&#8217;ve helped hundreds of Americans join the 2012 Amnesty Program and are considered one of the top experts in the world on it.
