{"id":349,"date":"2011-07-26T20:15:21","date_gmt":"2011-07-26T20:15:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/blog\/?p=349"},"modified":"2012-10-22T20:00:57","modified_gmt":"2012-10-22T20:00:57","slug":"blogs-of-international-school-teachers-ichi-ni-sango","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/blog\/blogs-of-international-school-teachers-ichi-ni-sango\/","title":{"rendered":"Blogs of international school teachers: \u201cIchi, Ni, San\u2026Go.\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Are you inspired to start up a blog about your adventures living abroad?<\/p>\n<p>Check out the experiences of another teacher from the moment they signed the contract to what they are writing about after a few years working abroad.<\/p>\n<p>Our 4th blog that we would like to highlight is called \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.rlnmontana.com\/robert\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ichi, Ni, San\u2026Go<\/a>.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 It has some great insight into how important the first few weeks are for new teachers during their orientation days to their new city and new school.\u00a0 There is also much information to be learned what life is really like working at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.internationalschoolcommunity.com\/school_main.php?id=55\">Fukuoka International School<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/home.php\" target=\"_blank\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 3px solid black;\" title=\"Screen shot 2011-07-25 at 7.01.28 PM\" src=\"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/07\/screen-shot-2011-07-25-at-7-01-28-pm.png?w=600&#038;h=147&#038;fit=600%2C147&#038;resize=420%2C103\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"103\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Entries we would like to highlight:<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Permanent Link to First Dinner with New Teachers\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.rlnmontana.com\/robert\/?p=227\" rel=\"bookmark noopener\" target=\"_blank\">First Dinner with New Teachers<\/a>:<strong><br \/>\n\u201cWe went out to our first group dinner with the new teachers last night. As we walked into the restaurant Kumi (our Japanese hero) informed us that the specialty of Fukuoka was \u201ccow\u2019s guts.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yes.\u00a0 The multitude of dinner parties and restaurant outings during your first few weeks are exciting.\u00a0 You get to sample the food that you will most likely be eating (or not eating I suppose) for the next few years in your new country.\u00a0 Going out to dinner\/lunch is a good time to get to know your fellow coworkers.\u00a0 It is also a good chance to get to know your new neighborhood\/city.\u00a0\u00a0 Sometimes, there are dinners with director, maybe even at his\/her house.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Permanent Link to School Prep\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.rlnmontana.com\/robert\/?p=296\" rel=\"bookmark noopener\" target=\"_blank\">School Prep<\/a>:<br \/>\n<strong>\u201cWhile Robert was getting his class schedule, student list, parent\/teacher handbook, and learning all the do\u2019s\/don\u2019ts of working at FIS, I had to bike back to our little townhouse, so that they could install the upstairs AC unit (which took nearly 2 hours)\u2026.but it was entirely worth the wait.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure I will ever get use to the heat and humidity here.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I love how this international school teacher highlighted how there are many things that need to get done during your first few weeks in the new country.\u00a0 Getting things set up in your house\/apartment can definitely take up a lot of your time (and sometimes waste your time as you wait and wait for the workers\/people to come to your place).\u00a0 Installing the AC unit is just one of the many things you need to get ready in your new house.\u00a0 Other things might include: telephone, internet, etc\u2026\u00a0 And dealing with the local service companies can be a bit of shock both with regards to cultural differences and language miscommunications.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.rlnmontana.com\/robert\/?p=319\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">First Day of School<\/a>:<br \/>\n<strong>\u201cYesterday afternoon Linda (the Head of School) officially offered me the library position.\u00a0 I was anticipating having to go to the Immigration Office to get my spousal work visa today, but I couldn\u2019t because I have to wait for the school director to sign the contract (and he doesn\u2019t get in until Friday night), so looks like I will be doing that on Monday instead.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is a good example of how many last minute things there are to deal with, and getting your work visa finalize and set is not fun.\u00a0 It can be quite stressful knowing that you are without a work visa.\u00a0 For sure things calm down a bit for new teachers once they get the work visa all squared away.\u00a0 Good schools will definitely help to facilitate that process for you and try to make it as stress-free as possible.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Are you inspired to start up a blog about your adventures living abroad?
