{"id":326,"date":"2011-08-31T20:06:32","date_gmt":"2011-08-31T20:06:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/blog\/?p=326"},"modified":"2012-02-26T20:06:59","modified_gmt":"2012-02-26T20:06:59","slug":"blogs-of-international-school-teachers-follow-that-elephant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/blog\/blogs-of-international-school-teachers-follow-that-elephant\/","title":{"rendered":"Blogs of international school teachers: \u201cFollow That Elephant!\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Are you inspired to start up a blog about your adventures living abroad?<\/p>\n<p>Check out the experiences of another international school teacher from the moment they signed the contract to what they are writing about after a few years working abroad.<\/p>\n<p>Our 6th blog that we would like to highlight is called \u201cFollow That Elephant\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 This teaching couple seem to be quite experienced in the international school community, having worked at more than 3 international schools.\u00a0 The part of their blog that we would like highlight is about their experience living in Malaysia working at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.internationalschoolcommunity.com\/school_main.php?id=616\" target=\"_blank\">Mont Kiara International School Kuala Lumpur<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/08\/screen-shot-2011-08-31-at-10-29-41-pm.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Screen shot 2011-08-31 at 10.29.41 PM\" src=\"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/08\/screen-shot-2011-08-31-at-10-29-41-pm.png?w=600&#038;h=200&#038;fit=600%2C200&#038;resize=600%2C200\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Entries we would like to highlight:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/superkimbo.wordpress.com\/2005\/08\/28\/2-months-in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2 Months\u00a0In\u2026<\/a><br \/>\n\u201cEverything continues to be absolutely wonderful: the food, the weather, the people, the shopping and the school. We\u2019re having a great time!\u2026Yesterday we went to the sikh wedding. One of the teachers at school married a Malaysian sikh, and they very generously invited everyone from MKIS! Since we were invited to this awesome wedding, we figured we would dress appropriately.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>How great to experience a wedding in the host country that you are living in!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/superkimbo.wordpress.com\/2005\/11\/09\/life-outside-of-kl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Life Outside of\u00a0KL<\/a><br \/>\n\u201cAside from the small, yet powerful cultural differences that have really come to the forefront this month, all continues to go well. We are still loving the weather, food, shopping, etc. It was especially nice to take a trip to the amazing east coast . According to my students Redang is the best island to visit. According to the teachers, it\u2019s the most expensive. No matter what you say, we loved it!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Looks like the next stage of culture shock has set in 2-3 months after the initial move, but that is when you also now know some of the great places to visit nearby as well\u2026.places you possibly didn\u2019t even realize were there before you moved.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/superkimbo.wordpress.com\/2009\/01\/25\/the-world-of-international-schools\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The World of International\u00a0Schools<\/a><br \/>\n\u201cWhen I tell people back home in the US that I\u2019m teaching in Thailand, they usually assume I teach English to Thai children.
