{"id":307,"date":"2011-09-18T20:00:13","date_gmt":"2011-09-18T20:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/blog\/?p=307"},"modified":"2012-02-26T20:00:40","modified_gmt":"2012-02-26T20:00:40","slug":"blogs-of-international-school-teachers-viewpoints","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.com\/blog\/blogs-of-international-school-teachers-viewpoints\/","title":{"rendered":"Blogs of international school teachers: \u201cViewpoints\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Are you inspired to start up a blog about your adventures living abroad?<\/p>\n<p>Check out the experiences of another international school teacher who starting their international school teaching career later in their life.<\/p>\n<p>Our 7th blog that we would like to highlight is called \u201cViewpoints.\u201d\u00a0 This teaching couple seem to be quite experienced in the international school community, having worked at more than 3 international schools.\u00a0 The part of their blog that we would like highlight is about their experience living in China working at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.internationalschoolcommunity.com\/school_main.php?id=885\" target=\"_blank\">Dalian American International School<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/travelinbrandes.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Screen shot 2011-09-17 at 4.43.44 PM\" src=\"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/09\/screen-shot-2011-09-17-at-4-43-44-pm.png?w=600&#038;h=76&#038;fit=600%2C76&#038;resize=600%2C76\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"76\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Entries we would like to highlight:<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/travelinbrandes.wordpress.com\/2011\/03\/11\/my-first-entry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">What is\u00a0Viewpoints?<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n\u201cViewpoints is a blog that stimulates discussions about collective cultures, ideas, fears and hopes. As an American educator living in China, I have a unique opportunity to focus on the world from a different perspective. Through Viewpoints, relevant issues are explored. I\u2019m a 59 year old educator leaving the US this August for China.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What an interesting point of view this international educator must have!<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/travelinbrandes.wordpress.com\/2011\/06\/01\/112\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Linear or\u00a0Circular?<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n\u201cI became a new teacher, beginning a new life\u00a0in my late thirties to be closer with my children, and though I was unaware at the time, I was just starting a metamorphosis. My new life in teaching had become my sanctuary, as it began spinning out of control, and sending me on a lifelong journey to new worlds. I was learning to teach day by day, and discovering the how challenging teaching really was. As a teacher I\u2019ve always felt that I have been evolving on a daily basis, always experiencing and learning something new, about teaching, about people and most important about myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>How great to view teaching as a sanctuary.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/travelinbrandes.wordpress.com\/2011\/06\/06\/141\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">China<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n\u201cFirst there was the issue of money, China would be the farthest trip taken and the issue of family finances was a concern. Another reason was that I was meeting my son Matthew, who had been in China teaching and Kay felt that it would be a great father son time. the final reason was that Kay really was not interested in traveling China, since it was well beyond her comfort zone.
