S. departments of Defense and State operate or assist more than 300 schools in over 100 foreign countries.\u00a0 Additionally there are more than 600 private American owned or supported schools abroad.<\/p>\n<p>The mission of AOSHS is to collect, record, and preserve the unique history of educating American children and youth abroad; and to enhance public knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of the contributions made by American educators and their students in the advancement of democracy around the world.<\/p>\n<p>The American Overseas Schools Archives (AOSA) was first established on the campus of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff in 1989. The AOSA is dedicated to preserving the history and memorabilia of the kindergarten through grade 12 education of an estimated 4 million American children who attended more than 900 American overseas schools over the past 150 years.<\/p>\n<p>In 1995 the American Overseas Schools Historical Society (AOSHS) was incorporated as a non- profit IRS 501(c)(3) organization.\u00a0 The AOSHS office and archives are located in Wichita, Kansas.<\/p>\n<p>They even have a section called: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aoshs.org\/educators.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Overseas Educator Information<\/a>.\u00a0 There is much information about the teachers that work at these schools.\u00a0 There is a picture on this page showing a reunion of some overseas teachers in Japan.\u00a0 How cool to be reunited with the colleagues that you worked with in another country a long time ago perhaps.\u00a0 I know after being at my third schools now, I am already starting to lose touch with the teachers that I worked with at my first international school.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.internationalschoolcommunity.com\/school_list.php\" target=\"_blank\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-width: 3px; border-color: black; border-style: solid;\" title=\"IMG_0365\" src=\"http:\/\/internationalschoolcommunity.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/02\/img_0365.jpg?w=401&#038;h=267&#038;fit=401%2C267&#038;resize=401%2C267\" alt=\"\" width=\"401\" height=\"267\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<em>Antwerp, Belgium<\/em><\/p>\n<p>One part of their website has all the American Overseas schools and their alumni associations <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aoshs.org\/SchoolsByCountry.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">listed alphabetically<\/a>.\u00a0 Some of the schools listed are:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aoshs.org\/ASchools.html#Vienna\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>American International School in Vienna<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aoshs.org\/ASchools.html#Buenas%20Aires\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Asociacion Escuelas Lincoln<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aoshs.org\/ASchools.html#AISK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American International School of Kabul, Afghanistan<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aoshs.org\/ASchools.html#Antwerp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Antwerp International School (AIS)<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aoshs.org\/ASchools.html#LaPlaz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American Cooperative School of La Paz<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are many, many more schools listed on their website\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aoshs.org\/SchoolsByCountry.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the schools listed on the American Overseas Schools Historical Society website are also found on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.internationalschoolcommunity.com\/home.php\" target=\"_blank\">International School Community<\/a>.\u00a0 Some of the schools listed on our website can be found here (the number of comments and information submitted by our members is also listed next to each school\u2019s link):<\/p>\n<div><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.internationalschoolcommunity.com\/school\/414\/American_International_School_Vienna\" target=\"_blank\">American International School Vienna<\/a><\/strong> (10 Comments)<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.internationalschoolcommunity.com\/school\/415\/Antwerp_International_School\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Antwerp International School<\/strong><\/a> (11 Comments)<br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.internationalschoolcommunity.com\/school\/271\/American_Cooperative_School_La_Paz\" target=\"_blank\">American Cooperative School La Paz<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>(9 Comments)<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>There are many, many more American international schools listed on our website which can be easily searched on our <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.internationalschoolcommunity.com\/school_list.php\" target=\"_blank\">schools list<\/a><\/strong> page.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The overseas education of more than four million American children and youth since World War II is an unwritten chapter in the history of American education and represents the schooling of several generations under circumstances unique to human history.
