Entries we would like to highlight:<\/p>\n My Journey to Work<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI was kindly tagged by Kim Cofino<\/a> in this blog meme of sorts, (via\u00a0Jess McCulloch<\/a>) which involves documenting how you get to work. It\u2019s an interesting one, because I love seeing the diverse lifestyles of my friends around the world \u2013 check out the\u00a0journeys of Kim<\/a>, Jess<\/a> & Clint<\/a>, by way of example.\u00a0 The journey starts at the elevator, where my son Griffin (more often than not wearing only PJ top & underpants) waves us all goodbye. Scarlett, Miles & I love this part, because he makes us smile as we leave.\u201d<\/p>\n This photo journey idea is a great one!\u00a0 It has the staff at International School Community very interested in trying it out ourselves.\u00a0 How great if we all shared our journeys with each other.\u00a0 For sure that would help prospective teachers get a better idea of what life is like traveling to and from the teachers\u2019 homes to the international school they work at.<\/p>\n Lessons from outside the ballet class<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cOne (Singaporean) parent said she had found the perfect school for her daughter. I was intrigued! Her criteria? The teachers had been teaching at the same school for over 20 years.\u00a0 I know fabulous teachers (as I\u2019m sure you do) who have been teaching for more than 20 years, and I do not mean to take anything away from them. I also know fabulous teachers who are only just beginning their careers, and I feel the Mum who judged a good school by the fact that the teachers had been there a long time was missing the boat.\u00a0 Longevity does not necessarily equal a good teacher.\u00a0 Longevity at an international school doesn\u2019t equal a good teacher either! The cynic in me might think (upon hearing a teacher has been at the same school for 20 years), what\u2019s the package like at THAT school?\u201d<\/p>\n Great topic to think about.\u00a0 Indeed, what was the package like at the international school where teachers stayed for 20+ years?\u00a0 All the international school teachers that have been at the same international school for more than 20 years have of course married a local\u2026.maybe staying for such a long time doesn\u2019t appear to be the result of wanting to reap the wonderful benefits of a benefits package.<\/p>\n *If you are an international school teacher and would like your blog highlighted on International School Community<\/a> contact us here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Are you inspired to start up a blog about your adventures living abroad?
